South Asia Symposium
South Asia Symposium
Join us in exploring new research on the South Asia region (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, The Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) and its diaspora. This one-day multi-disciplinary event features panel sessions from 9am to 3pm on language and culture on the margins, politics and conflict, and working lives and livelihoods. The documentary film “Ghar ka Pata” (Home Address) about Kashmiri exiles will be shown at 3:30pm, followed by a discussion on themes of diaspora and home. This event brings together researchers whose work focusses on this diverse multicultural, multi-lingual, and multi-religious region. The symposium is organised by Sydney South Asia Society (SSAS) a group for PhD students and early career researchers and is supported by a Student Life Grant. Lunch and snacks will be provided. All welcome!
